a little about me

Jackie Richardson

You can call me
Jackie

I'm a 25-year-old artist, designer, and photographer based out of Columbus, Ohio.

During my formative years in high school and early college, I had the incredible opportunity to apprentice under the esteemed master artist, William Whitaker, until his unfortunate passing in 2018. Bill's guidance, mentorship, and unwavering support deeply influenced my artistic practice, shaping me into the artist I am today. Keeping his memory alive through my embodiment of his wisdom and techniques motivates me to continue honing my craft and pushing the boundaries of my artistic expression. It is through this profound connection and the timeless lessons learned under his guidance that I find inspiration, strength, and an unwavering commitment to pursuing artistic excellence.

In 2019, I dedicated my summer to studying at Studio Escalier in Argentonnay, France. Immersed in an intensive program, I spent over 30 hours each week drawing and painting the human form from life. This intensive artistic exploration broadened my understanding and refined my techniques, paving the way for my artistic growth.

In May 2020, I proudly graduated Summa Cum Laude from Capital University with a Bachelor of Arts, having pursued a double major in Studio Art and Emerging Media, with a focused concentration in Digital Design. This comprehensive education equipped me with a well-rounded skill set, blending traditional artistic practices with contemporary digital mediums.

Since then, I have navigated the balance between sustaining my livelihood and nurturing my artistic practice. Continuously seeking growth and innovation, I find myself drawn to exploring different techniques and mediums, infusing my work with new elements such as gold leaf. In addition to my artistic endeavors, I have been forging valuable connections within the field of marketing and content creation. Collaborating with professionals in these fields has provided me with invaluable insights and experiences, allowing me to expand my skill set and contribute my artistic expertise to various creative projects. By bridging the worlds of art and professional content creation, I have cultivated a unique perspective and a versatile approach to delivering captivating visual narratives.

Through this multifaceted journey, I am continually inspired to create art that resonates with others, evokes emotions, and sparks meaningful connections.

2016-2020

Bachelor's of Arts
Capital University

During my time at Capital University, I immersed myself in the vibrant artistic community. As an active member of a co-ed professional arts fraternity, I served as PR chair for two consecutive years and later became President, fostering creativity and collaboration. I was also heavily involved in theater, joined several honor societies, and received the Capital High Impact Grant, enabling me to embark on my transformative trip to France. These experiences shaped me as an artist, nurtured my leadership skills, and ignited a passion for artistic exploration that continues to drive me today.

SUMMER 2019

Studio Escalier

Argentonnay, France

My study abroad experience in Argentonnay, France was an extraordinary chapter in my artistic journey. Under the guidance of the talented and esteemed duo, Michelle Tully and Timothy Stotz, I had the privilege of immersing myself in drawing and painting the figure from life. Michelle and Tim truly taught me how to see - and to enjoy the process of creating as much (if not more than) the finished product. The supportive and collaborative environment fostered by Michelle and Tim created a transformative experience that continues to shape my artistic practice to this day.
